More Denim/Stained Glass Quilts

Like many people, I have tons of photographs from way back when - you know, before digital cameras! My goal is to get them all scanned and onto my computer. If I want that to happen I need to get started so I spent about 3 hours this afternoon scanning photos. It is so much fun looking at pictures of my kids through the years, seeing pictures of loved ones, etc. Among all the photos I found some pictures of quilts, especially denim quilts so if you are not sick of seeing pictures of denim quilts you can go over to Flickr and see a few more. Included in the group are the table covers I made for our church handbell choir and several made from regular quilting cottons.

I just stumbled across your blog (yay, "Next Blog" button!), and I just adore all your stained-glass quilts. Which, unlike many "stained glass" quilts, actually COULD be made from glass!

Lovely, lovely work, I enjoyed looking at all the photos!

I've been looking for a way to make a quilt from jeans and am so glad to have found your blog! One question I have is, do you put any batting in the middle or does that make the quilt too heavy? How about a flannel back? Too heavy? Thanks for sharing your instructions....I'm going to get started right away on a quilt for my son.

Cindy-Thanks for stopping by. I do use batting and I have used flannel for the backs also. I don't think they are too heavy when you use a batting. I have used poly batting in the past but usually use cotton now. If you are interested I can send you my pattern.

Thanks for responding! I would love your pattern. I need to get started on my son's quilt right away since he just informed us that he's applying for jobs out of state (he graduates from college in a few months). I want him to take his quilt when he goes.

Tami Levin sent me to your blog to drool over your wonderful denim quilts and so I have (drooled, that is). I work a lot with recycled denim too and am always on the look-out for new ideas. I've made several denim quilts, but just used plain squares, which look nice but not as fun as yours! If you share your pattern, would you share with me? I'd love to make one to reduce my stash (or at least make a little dent in it!!). My email addy is marmic1954 *at* gmail *dot* com. Thanks and I'll be back to have a good read!!

Your denim quilts are a great inspiration to me. I have several pairs of jeans that I've hung on to waiting to find the perfect pattern. I think yours is it. Thanks so much for sharing.
