Out of the Darkness

This is another UFO/WIP. I saw the pattern online and just had to have it even though I thought it was rather expensive (oh well, its only money!) for a pattern that I was downloading! On my next trip to Fabric Depot with Katie I picked up fabrics for it that I didn't already have and started cutting everything out. At my next quilt retreat I started sewing the blocks. I got several done at the retreat and then finished up the 10 blocks at home. And that is as far as I have gotten on it. I might just pull it out one of these days and get the top finished. If you want to see pictures of the rest of the blocks they can be seen starting here.

WOWSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!! First, I'm HIGHLY impressed that you did this on your own! I'm doing this through my local quilt shop and I'm so grateful to be part of a group of about 12 folks so we have been able to share ideas, suggestions and complaints!

We keep saying when we are done, it's going to be gorgeous, but it is a very difficult pattern. We as a group stated it averages each 18" block about 20 hours from cutting to completion. I'm right now 3 months behind and we met the 3rd Saturday of the month. I'm hopeful to catch up this month.

Your's is looking beautiful!!

They do take a long time for each block but I don't think it was quite so long for me. I did all the cutting in advance because I like my sewing table for cutting better than the ones at the retreat. I also think the directions were not the best. Not a quilt for a beginner on their own that is for sure! It wasn't the best project at a quilt retreat either because I had to concentrate on the directons. Most quilts I don't use a pattern or directions too much. It will be very beautiful when it is all done with the accent on when!
